The Sr. Sales Engineer is a key member of the Sales organization aligning our observability technologies with the needs of our prospective customers.  We are looking for a seasoned, hard-working, smart and over-achieving customer facing sales engineer who has a passion for defining, selling, and helping our prospective customers deploy our technology solutions. The Sr. Sales Engineer is a strong technical role that is expected to professionally and accurately present technical presentations and demonstrations across the full array of buyers, from DevOps Engineers up to and including the CTO of both SMB and larger commercial accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Support Enterprise sales executives with solution selling into our prospect account base
  • Partner with sales executives to plan, prepare and execute on strategic deals in most complex sales cycles
  • Be proficient at speaking to the Business Value our products and solution deliver in addition to our Technical Features that differentiate Logz.io in the market
  • Serve as a “trusted advisor” to our largest prospects and customers by being a consulted partner
  • Engaging with prospective DevOps customers while understanding their day-to-day roles, responsibilities, activities, environment, tools, etc
  • Be expert in our entire suite of products (Logs, Metrics, Traces, SIEM)
  • Be a Product Lead / SME for a specific product and serve as a liaison between the Product Team and Revenue Organization for that product responsible for:
  • Being the technical go-to person for that product
  • Keeping the Revenue Organization current on product enhancements and plans
  • Delivering feedback from our prospects for the Product Team
  • Participating in appropriate product meetings as an extended member of the associated team 
  • Exhibit technical thought leadership and act as a go-to resource for other members of the Sales organization
  • Exhibit strategic thought leadership by recognizing, proposing, and acting to improve Pre-Sales related areas of the organization (process, frameworks, methods, etc.)
  • Assist and contribute to the development of our technical enablement strategy (content, labs, tests, etc)
  • Perform deep technical use case discovery
  • Successfully match customer pain/gain requirements to proposed solutions
  • Create and deliver powerful presentations and demos that clearly communicate the uniqueness of our value proposition

  • Requirements

  • 4+ years as a Pre-Sales Engineer or Solution Architect (may include 1-2 years experience as a Customer Success Engineer)
  • Basic understanding of the software development life cycle and CI/CD pipeline
  • A broad background in technical infrastructure including cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), containers, orchestration (K8s), microservices, etc. is a must
  • An solid understanding of modern application architectures, programming languages, and development practices (devops, CI/CD, etc) is desired
  • Ability to creatively explain and present complex concepts in an easy to understand manner
  • Ability to work for a dynamic, technical organization with a rapidly expanding customer base
  • Domain knowledge and experience in any of the following areas:
  • Log Management and Log Analysis 
  • Infrastructure Monitoring
  • Application Performance Management
  • Big Data (from a data management perspective) 
  • Security and Networking 
  • Business Intelligence / Web Analytics 
  • Operational Intelligence, AI, ML
  • Preferential Skills

  • Candidates with technical sales and/or hands-on experience and/or understanding of/with the following technologies and/or products will be considered better qualified and given preferential treatment for the position.
  • Log Management - e.g. Splunk, Sumo Logic, Elastic, ELK Stack, LogRhythm
  • Infrastructure Monitoring - e.g. Datadog, SignalFX, Prometheus, Grafana, SolarWinds
  • Distributed Tracing - e.g. AppDynamics, New Relic, Dynatrace, Jaeger, Zipkin, Open Telemetry
  • SIEM / Security - e.g. QRadar, Sumo Logic, AlienVault, Exabeam, Fortinet, Rapid7
