About The Position

As Architect in Logz.io, you'll be part of newly growing team of architects whose main goal is to help steer the Logz.io system towards its Technical Vision (i.e. The Technical Roadmap). Getting there is an on-going process, based on our core engineering value of Continuous Improvement. It involves the development team, product managers and other teams in the company. The architects are the ones collecting knowledge and feedback across the system and different teams and help move it forward in the right direction.

Responsibilities

  • Consult technically for feature designs
  • Help steer the Technical Roadmap & Architecture by:

1) Shaping infrastructure-based solutions together with the team in an incremental process

2) Encouraging alignment of features to Architecture Roadmap (vision) through continuous brainstorming sessions, feature designs and code reviews

3) Accompany major infrastructure components from design brainstorming, to deep code reviews and preparing them to be open source

  • Help evolve our Open Source Where Possible approach in each feature to achieve clean code, design and architecture, and strengthen our engineering brand
  • Build a strong engineering department and brand by encouraging knowledge sharing through conferences and meetups, including international conference appearances, and blog posts.
  • Help keep the company and engineering culture
  • Guide towards clean code and architecture by example through code reviews, sharing knowledge team sessions
  • Tap into the vast world knowledge, and encourage usage of new/better frameworks, architecture patterns, and ideas to move the architecture and system to a better place


Requirements

  • Vast experience in building large web applications using the Java/JVM eco system
  • In depth knowledge of the Java eco system in terms of existing frameworks, in each category
  • Experience building large scale, high throughput systems
  • Experience in solving performance issues in production. Both JVM related and other commonly used technologies
  • Up-to-date knowledge on new methodologies, frameworks and tools as they emerge in the industry with aim to introduce them to the organization as part of developing the Technical Roadmap
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Plus: Community involvement: meetups, people, conferences, etc.
